Nutritional Genomics 101: Building Your Business with Genetic Testing
People today are sicker than ever, and many are not getting answers. They desperately want help! But as a health, wellness or fitness professional, you're not sure what's real and what's quackery!
We've all been taught that we're stuck with the genes we're born with, yet few people actually inherit "bad" genes. Poor eating habits prevent people from achieving their genetic potential and optimal health.
We all agree that our diet and lifestyle choices can significantly affect our health. And today it's understood that certain nutrients are needed to promote normal replication of DNA for normal growth and healing, and regulate how genes function.
Dear health, wellness and fitness professional,
21st Century nutrition is cutting edge and competitive. With today's technology, it's easier than ever to create a personalized nutrition program based on genetic variations, not just family history and standard assessments.
As a health, wellness or fitness professional who provides clients with customized lifestyle and nutrition/nutraceutical support that produces optimal results, your business will see incredible growth with an understanding of the role nutrigenomics plays in health!

What is Nutritional Genomics?
Nutritional Genomics is the study of the effects of foods and food constituents on gene expression. Nutritional Genomics aims to develop a rational means to optimize nutrition through the identification of the person's genotype. It is the relationship between nutrients and human health.
Optimizing your clients' genes.
We can't change our genetics, but we can eat the right foods to support our genetic predispositions, take the right supplements to support our gene variations and promote normal cell function and structure, and we can provide our clients with lifestyle recommendations that will help them enjoy optimal health and the highest possible quality of life!
Based on Nutrigenetic Principles:
- Poor diet can be a risk factor of disease.
- Dietary components can alter gene expression.
- The degree to which diet influences health and disease depends upon an individual’s genetic make-up.

Lesli and Margie provided a great overview of nutritional genomics and testing! They provided great guidance as to how dietitians can be at the forefront of interpreting and counseling clients based on their own genetic predispositions, enabling diet and lifestyle modifications to acheive optimal wellness. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge about the cutting edge world of nutritional genomics.
Sonya Angelone, MS, RD, CLT
The information in this course saved me hours of researching and reading. It was presented in a concise and practical manner. It will add so much to my practice. Great webinar. Thanks!
Tina Braet-Thomas, MA, RD, LD, CDE, CLT, CWC
I loved the class on nutritional genomics. The information was presented in a way that was logical and easy to follow. The slides really were beneficial in understanding the concepts presented. I was pretty confused about the whole subject area of nutritional genomics until I took this course - thanks!
Very comprehensive and very understandable for a very scientific subject. Well presented. I learned a lot.
Lisa Cianfrini, MSc, RD
Very informative! Being able to interact with other nutrition professionals interested in this field was invaluable.
Diana C. Bright, MS, RD, CCN, CLT, ND
Preventative healthcare has always been my interest when I got into nutrition. I am living long enough to see scientific discoveries showing how our genes are affected by our environment, diet, lifestyle, and mentality. We can control our gene expression by stepping in early using knowledge gained from nutrigenomics, an emerging paradigm shift to improve our health for better longevity.
Susan Buckley RD, CDE, CLT
I learned a lot about genetics and how nutrition can influence the expression of genes.

Would you like to help your clients solve their most challenging health problems?
If you said yes, then "Nutritional Genomics 101" is for you!
As a wellness professional, myself, I have always been interested in functional and complementary nutrition. When I practiced nutrition, it was a specialty I enjoyed introducing to my clients, so we could solve troublesome health challenges they thought they had to just live with. And to resolve my own health problems that traditional medicine could not resolve, I implemented what I knew to work for clients.
But nutritional genomics was just a topic of conversation, not reality back then!
Because of my interest in the area of holistic health, and in my mission to support health professionals so they can improve the health of the world, I am pleased to present this 3-part webinar series! And here is our featured speaker for the series, Lesli Koskela.
Lesli Koskela, MBA-C, RD, LDN, cWC, CLT, is founder of the coaching and wellness consulting practice, Harmonic Nutrition & Wellness, LLC, at www.HarmonicNutrition.com. She provides nutrition therapy, workshops and life coaching services to individuals, groups and corporations with a focus on long-term behavior change and enhanced well being.
Lesli has multiple practice specializations including life and wellness coaching, intuitive-eating for weight management, food intolerances/allergies, and the integration of nutrigenomic testing for optimal health.
